# Why Web3

The Privy Labs Protocol (PLP) is an inherently-web3 infrastructure project. We are committed to, and remain encouraged by the blockchain community’s commitment to develop solutions for self-sovereignty, self-custody, identity management, and privacy preserving technologies in the pursuit of building a better internet. 

By building our protocol with this in mind, we believe we can develop infrastructure that will power the next iterations of a consent-focused internet. Furthermore, we believe that the web3 funding design model encourages positive incentive alignment, demand validation, and shared ownership between our community of creators, developers, and the PLP team.
